Meet Muse Founder Keri

Keri has been passionately teaching Pilates for 14 years and founded her own Studio, Muse Movement, in Toronto 9 years ago. With her collaborative team at Muse Movement, Keri runs Toronto’s most comprehensive, integrative and inclusive mat and reformer Pilates teacher training which in Launching in Portugal in Spring 2024. Now a resident in Lisbon she is excited to be teaching her brand of contemporary Pilates method in what is officially her favourite city.

Keri’s is a deeply compassionate, intuitive, skilled and creative teacher who pushes her clients gently and invites them to get curious. She loves a straight up fitness class to great tunes but is also a Pilates rehabilitative specialist and teaches everything in between. Keri also teaches a sweaty joint mobilizing Barre class; Functional Range Conditioning and; Vinyasa and Restorative yoga.

Keri’s clients appreciate her keen eye, attention to detail, the concise way in which she explains things and her humour. Keri’s goal is to help people feel better in their bodies’ and empower them through movement so they live happier and more creative lives.

Keri’s motto: Move your body, move your mind, move your heart comes from her own experience with the therapeutic and transformative power of movement. Living with rheumatoid arthritis from early childhood, Keri did not always have a healthy relationship with her body but all that changed when she started practicing Pilates. The practice gave her power as she became embodied. She found inner strength and confidence in both body and brain and discovered that the two could be great pals. She now lives without pain and enjoys the freedom of dynamic movement and a life the same.

  • Pilates is a system of exercises designed by a pretty innovative dude named Joseph Piltates over 100 years ago. Pilates is a mindful movement practice which asks you to focus on your breath and your movements so that you can create stability in the body in order to gain more mobility and flexibility. Pilates has this magical way of both relaxing your nervous system and providing a functional full body workout that promotes strength, vitality and empowerment. Pilates is known as a core and postural based exercise system as a lot of the low impact movements aim to work the muscles that are closer to the bone which tend to be overpowered by larger muscle groups which is often the cause of pain and or injury . Keri teaches a contemporary version of Pilates which means she does not follow the original sequence and teaches what is right in the moment for her clients combining her love for Pilates with all the other movement modalities that have inspired her and been useful for her students.

  • Keri loves sharing her passion for movement with a newbie. Her classes cater to all levels and she will always meet you where you are at while gently encouraging and pushing you . Ask all the questions you need and enjoy the ride.

  • Pilates is best done a minimum of two times a week to feel the difference it can make it your strength, posture, pain and mobility . If you have another practice you enjoy Pilates is the perfect accompaniment to prepare and take care of your body .
